Chandra Walker-Target, NP

Nurse practitioner Chandra Walker-Target specializes in mental health at The Center for Mental Wellness, 1111 Line Ave. in Shreveport. The Shreveport native was inspired to pursue a career in healthcare by her mother. “She experienced some disparities in her younger life, and I wanted to see if I could change that for other patients,” Walker-Target says.

She began as a surgical technologist at Willis Knighton more than 25 years ago and later earned associate, bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing degrees at Northwestern State University in Shreveport. She is certified as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband, Pastor Billy R. Target, have four sons and four grandchildren. She is an active member at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Grove.
